Chronic lower limb ulcers are a common problem which can be expensive to treat
The proper diagnosis is essential if correct treatment of the limb is to be undertaken and to avoid ongoing limb compromise treatment depends on the cause of the ulcer,  Ulcers are often multi-factorial and avoidable
A good history and clinical examination can usually diagnose the cause of the problem. Sometimes non invasive tests are required.
The cause may be multi factorial in origin and may lead to a multi factorial team approach in the management of these ulcers
